How to start with NDIS- step by step:
If you are not a current disability service user, you could use the 'My Access Checklist' or call the NDIA on 1800 800 110 to ask if you or your family member under your care is eligible for NDIS and what you can do to start. Please note that being a recipient of disability pension does not necessary warrant you eligibility for NDIS. You can find this 'My Access Checklist' on the NDIS website: http://www.ndis.gov.au/ndis-access-checklist
Contact your local GP to arrange an appointment time to complete the 'Access Request form' together, or alternatively you can complete this on your own. See https://www.ndis.gov.au/people-with-disability/access-requirements/completing-your-access-request-form
Meet with a local NDIS support coordinator or planner to discuss goals and go through pre-planning booklet together in more depth if necessary.
Start gathering all the paperwork you might need for a NDIS planning session. This includes forms, letters, medical reports, health assessments, individualised service plans, and any information that will give evidence of your disability or of the disability of the person you care for.
